# Josh Simm

**Josh Simm** (born 27 February 2001) is an English professional [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) footballer who plays as a or er for the [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League). He is the grandson of [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) legend [Geoff Pimblett](/source/Geoff_Pimblett).

He has previously played for [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) and [Castleford Tigers](/source/Castleford_Tigers) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League) and the [Wynnum Manly Seagulls](/source/Wynnum_Manly_Seagulls) in the [Queensland Cup](/source/Queensland_Cup). He has spent time on loan at [Leigh Centurions](/source/Leigh_Centurions) in both the [Championship](/source/RFL_Championship) and the Super League, and at [Hull FC](/source/Hull_F.C.) in the Super League.

## Background

Simm was born in [St Helens](/source/St_Helens,_Merseyside), England. He is the grandson of [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) legend [Geoff Pimblett](/source/Geoff_Pimblett).[3]

## Playing career

### St Helens

In the 2019 under 19s academy season, Simm scored a total of 30 tries in 20 games, beating his previous season's total of 29 tries in 23 games.[citation needed]

Simm made his [Super League](/source/Super_League) début for [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) against the [London Broncos](/source/London_Broncos) in July 2019.[4]

Simm would go on to score his first Super League try in round 17 of the [2020 Super League season](/source/Super_League_XXV_results) vs [Leeds Rhinos](/source/Leeds_Rhinos), where he scored a hat-trick in a man of the match performance.[5]

Simm made seven appearances for the [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) in 2022 including the Challenge Cup semi-final defeat to [Wigan Warriors](/source/Wigan_Warriors). The outside back also made a further five Super League appearances for [Hull FC](/source/Hull_FC) where he spent the second half of last season on loan, scoring two tries.[citation needed]

#### Leigh Centurions (loan)

On 13 April 2021, it was reported that he had signed for [Leigh](/source/Leigh_Centurions) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League) on a short-term loan.[6]

### Wynnum Manly Seagulls

In October, [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) announced Simm would be moving on elsewhere. On 24 October, Simm signed for the [Wynnum Manly Seagulls](/source/Wynnum_Manly_Seagulls) in the [Queensland Cup](/source/Queensland_Cup) in Australia for the 2023 season.[7]

### Castleford Tigers

On 3 October 2023, the [Castleford Tigers](/source/Castleford_Tigers) announced the signing of Simm on a two-year deal.[8][9] He said, "I'm absolutely buzzing, I really can't wait! The Cas fans can expect full commitment, and 100% effort in every game, and I pride myself in being able to score from anywhere in attack."[10]

Simm was assigned squad number 2 ahead of the [2024 season](/source/2024_Castleford_Tigers_season).[11] He made his Castleford debut in round 1 against the [Wigan Warriors](/source/Wigan_Warriors),[12] and scored his first try in round 3 against the [Warrington Wolves](/source/Warrington_Wolves).[13] In round 5, he scored two tries against the [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons).[14]

In the first game of the [2025 season](/source/2025_Castleford_Tigers_season), Simm made his first appearance in 10 months and scored a length-of-the-field try against [Bradford](/source/Bradford_Bulls) in the [Challenge Cup](/source/2025_Challenge_Cup).[15] He finished the year as Castleford's top tryscorer with 8 in 21 appearances.[1]

### Catalans Dragons

On 6 September 2025, it was announced that Simm would join [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League) from 2026 on a two-year deal.[16]

He is currently appearing for the [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons) reserve side, [Saint-Estève XIII Catalan](/source/Saint-Est%C3%A8ve_XIII_Catalan), in the [Super XIII](/source/Super_XIII).
