**Josh Sharp** is an actor and writer, best known for writing and starring in *[Dicks: The Musical](/source/Dicks:_The_Musical)*.

## Early life

Sharp attended the [University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill](/source/University_of_North_Carolina_at_Chapel_Hill) where he explored improv, musical theater, and comedy.[1]

## Career

After graduating from college, Sharp moved to New York.[2] In New York, Sharp met fellow comedians [Bowen Yang](/source/Bowen_Yang), [Matt Rogers](/source/Matt_Rogers_(comedian)), and [Joel Kim Booster](/source/Joel_Kim_Booster).[3] He also met [Aaron Jackson](/source/Aaron_Jackson_(comedian)) through Langan Kingsley.[4] Sharp began performing with [Upright Citizens Brigade](/source/Upright_Citizens_Brigade) in 2009.[5] He and Aaron Jackson collaborated on several comedy pieces, including the [Funny or Die](/source/Funny_or_Die) video Series "Jared & Ivanka."[6]

Sharp was a correspondent for *[The Opposition with Jordan Klepper](/source/The_Opposition_with_Jordan_Klepper)* in 2017.[7] [Comedy Central](/source/Comedy_Central) decided not to renew the show in 2018.[8]

With Aaron Jackson, Sharp wrote and starred in the musical *Fucking Identical Twins* which played with [Upright Citizens Brigade](/source/Upright_Citizens_Brigade) for more than a year. In 2016, the musical was optioned by [20th Century Fox](/source/20th_Century_Fox) for film adaptation.[9] The film, *[Dicks: The Musical](/source/Dicks:_The_Musical)*, premiered in 2023.[10]

Sharp has appeared several times on the podcast [Las Culturistas](/source/Las_Culturistas).[11]

In 2025, Sharp premiered his one-man comedy show, "ta-da!", at the Greenwich House Theater.[12] The 80-minute show, directed by [Sam Pinkleton](/source/Sam_Pinkleton), features 2,000 [PowerPoint](/source/PowerPoint) slides, which Sharp memorized.[12] Sharp received a 2026 [Drama Desk](/source/Drama_Desk_Awards) nomination for [Outstanding Solo Performance](/source/Drama_Desk_Award_for_Outstanding_Solo_Performance).[13]

## Personal life

Sharp is gay.[3] He enjoys reading.[14] He is in a relationship with performer Blake Daniel.[15]
