**Joshua Christopher Daniels** (born **Joshua Christopher Tracey** on 22 February 1996) is an Irish professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who is a [winger](/source/Midfielder#Winger)/wing-back playing for NIFL Premiership side [Glentoran](/source/Glentoran_F.C.)

## Club career

Born in [Derry](/source/Derry), began his career with [Derry City](/source/Derry_City_F.C.).[3] He scored his first goal for the club in May 2016, less than two months after five members of his family had died in a car accident.[4] In August 2017 he moved to [Glenavon](/source/Glenavon_F.C.),[5][6] signing a contract extension with the club in January 2019, lasting until 2021.[7]

In July 2020 he was linked with a move away from Glenavon, with [Glentoran](/source/Glentoran_F.C.) and [Linfield](/source/Linfield_F.C.) reportedly interested.[8] In August 2020 he signed for English club [Shrewsbury Town](/source/Shrewsbury_Town_F.C.).[9][10][11] He made his competitive debut for Shrewsbury as a substitute in a 4–3 defeat to [Middlesbrough](/source/Middlesbrough_F.C.) in the [EFL Cup](/source/EFL_Cup) on 4 September 2020.[12]

In June 2022 he joined [The New Saints](/source/The_New_Saints_F.C.).[13]

In the January 2026 transfer window he signed for Belfast club [Glentoran](/source/Glentoran_F.C.).[14][15]

## International career

Daniels played for Northern Ireland at [under-17](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-17_football_team) and [under-19](/source/Northern_Ireland_national_under-19_football_team).[3] He then switched allegiance to the Republic of Ireland, playing for their [under-21 team](/source/Republic_of_Ireland_national_under-21_football_team).[16]

## Personal life

In March 2016, five members of Daniels' family died in the Buncrana Pier tragedy when a car plunged into [Lough Swilly](/source/Lough_Swilly) in [County Donegal](/source/County_Donegal), Ireland.[4][17]
