Joseph attended the [Catholic University of Cameroon](/source/Catholic_University_of_Cameroon) prior to coming to the United States to play [college soccer](/source/College_soccer_in_the_United_States) at [Old Dominion University](/source/Old_Dominion_University) in 2006. He was a Second Team All-CAA selection in his junior year in 2008.

On March 12, 2013, Nane signed with [New York Cosmos](/source/New_York_Cosmos_(2013%E2%80%932020)), and made 10 appearances and five starts in his first season with the team, which culminated in winning the 2013 NASL [Soccer Bowl](/source/Soccer_Bowl) over Atlanta Silverbacks.
