== Career ==
Bryan traveled in [France](/source/France) during the [American Revolutionary War](/source/American_Revolutionary_War). Bryan was elected as a [Republican](/source/Democratic-Republican_Party_(United_States)) to the [8th](/source/8th_United_States_Congress) and [9th](/source/9th_United_States_Congress) [United States congress](/source/United_States_Congress)es and served from March 4, 1803, until his resignation in 1806.{{citation needed|date=March 2026}}

He engaged in planting and died on his estate, ''Nonchalance'', Wilmington Island, near Savannah in 1812. He was buried in the family burial ground on his estate.{{citation needed|date=March 2026}}
