Powell was born in [Dallas, TX](/source/Dallas%2C_TX) and attended [Texas A&M University](/source/Texas_A%26M_University) in [College Station, TX](/source/College_Station%2C_Texas) where he was awarded a [B.A.](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) in [English](/source/English_literature). He moved to [Nashville](/source/Nashville%2C_Tennessee) in 2006. == Management ==
Powell began his career as a tour manager while still in college at Texas A&M. While living in Texas, he worked for several artists including [Roger Creager](/source/Roger_Creager), Chris Wall, [Phil Pritchett](/source/Phil_Pritchett) and [Jack Ingram](/source/Jack_Ingram). == Record production ==
While tour managing, Powell also began producing demo sessions in Nashville for then relatively unknown artists like [Adam Hood](/source/Adam_Hood), [Charlie Worsham](/source/Charlie_Worsham) and [Chelsea Lankes](/source/Chelsea_Lankes).
