# Jordan Bender

**Jordan Bender** (born July 9, 2001) is an American professional [soccer](/source/Association_football) player who plays as an [attacking midfielder](/source/Midfielder_(association_football)) for Swedish club [AFC Eskilstuna](/source/AFC_Eskilstuna).

## Club career

### Orlando City

Having joined the Orlando City Development Academy (DA) aged 13 and captaining the U19 team in the process,[1] Bender signed his first professional contract with [Orlando City B](/source/Orlando_City_B) (OCB), Orlando City's [USL League One](/source/USL_League_One) affiliate, on November 14, 2018.[2] In December 2019, Bender signed a [Homegrown](/source/Homegrown_Player_Rule_(Major_League_Soccer)) contract with [Orlando City](/source/Orlando_City_SC) ahead of the [2020 season](/source/2020_Orlando_City_SC_season). In doing so he became the first Orlando player to be signed to the senior team having directly come through both the academy and OCB.[3]

#### Charlotte Independence loan

On May 6, 2021, Bender joined [USL Championship](/source/USL_Championship) team [Charlotte Independence](/source/Charlotte_Independence) on loan for the [2021 season](/source/2021_USL_Championship_season).[4] He made his debut on May 14, 2021, as a 77th-minute substitute in a 3–0 win over [Charleston Battery](/source/Charleston_Battery).[5] He was recalled by Orlando City on September 1 having made 15 appearances.[6] Bender had his contract option declined at the end of the 2021 season.[7]

### Cape Town City

In July 2022, Bender signed with [South African Premier Division](/source/South_African_Premier_Division) club [Cape Town City](/source/Cape_Town_City_F.C._(2016)).[8]

## International career

In 2017, Bender received his first call-up to the United States U16 national team during their February training camp.[3] In January 2020, Bender was called in to the [U20](/source/United_States_men's_national_under-20_soccer_team) camp for two friendlies against [Mexico](/source/Mexico_national_under-20_football_team) as an injury replacement for [Kevin Bonilla](/source/Kevin_Bonilla).[9][10]
