# Jones Rocks

The **Jones Rocks** ([66°34′S 97°50′E](https://geohack.toolforge.org/geohack.php?params=66_34_S_97_50_E)) are coastal outcrops 4 nautical miles (7 km) southwest of the [Avalanche Rocks](/source/Avalanche_Rocks), on the east shore of the [Bay of Winds](/source/Bay_of_Winds). They were discovered by the [Australasian Antarctic Expedition](/source/Australasian_Antarctic_Expedition), 1911–14, under [Mawson](/source/Mawson), and named by him for Dr. [Sydney Evan Jones](/source/Sydney_Evan_Jones), medical officer with the expedition.[1]
