A resident of the [Vidigal](/source/Vidigal%2C_Rio_de_Janeiro) community since birth, Haagensen has [Norwegian](/source/Norway) ancestry from his father, whom he has not seen since he was six years old. "I never knew anything about my father. I only know that he lives in [Vitória](/source/Vit%C3%B3ria%2C_Esp%C3%ADrito_Santo), the capital city of the state of [Espírito Santo](/source/Esp%C3%ADrito_Santo)," he has said.
He appeared in the film ''[City of God](/source/City_of_God_(2002_film))'', directed by Fernando Meireles and Kátia Lund, alongside his brother, [Phellipe Haagensen](/source/Phellipe_Haagensen), who is also an actor. Haagensen was discovered in Vidigal's theatrical company ''Nós do Morro''.
In addition to acting, he has worked as a model, participating in the [Fashion Rio](/source/Fashion_Rio) event, campaigning for [Dolce & Gabbana](/source/Dolce_%26_Gabbana), and working in promotional events for the [NBA](/source/NBA).
