**Jonathan Christopher Ash-Edwards** (born 1986–87) is a British [Conservative Party](/source/Conservative_Party_(UK)) politician, and the [Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner](/source/Hertfordshire_Police_and_Crime_Commissioner) since May 2024, when he succeeded fellow Conservative [David Lloyd](/source/David_Lloyd_(police_commissioner)).[1] He previously served as a Councillor on [Mid Sussex District council](/source/Mid_Sussex_District)[2] and as [Leader of the Council](/source/Leader_of_the_Council) from 2019 to 2023.[3] He lost his seat in the [2023 Mid Sussex District Council election](/source/2023_Mid_Sussex_District_Council_election#Lindfield).[3]

## Early life

Ash-Edwards attended the [Open University](/source/Open_University), and obtained a degree in Business Management.[4]

## Political career

Ash-Edwards was elected to represent [Haywards Heath](/source/Haywards_Heath)'s Heath Ward on [Mid Sussex District Council](/source/Mid_Sussex_District) in 2007,[5] at age 20, while continuing to study for his degree.[4] In 2019, Ash-Edwards switched to [Lindfield](/source/Lindfield%2C_West_Sussex) ward.[6] From shortly after the 2019 Elections to 2023, Ash-Edwards served as [Leader](/source/Leader_of_the_Council) of Mid Sussex District Council. In 2023, Ash-Edwards was not re-elected.[3]

Shortly thereafter he moved to Hertfordshire,[2] to seek selection and election as the Conservative Party's candidate for [Hertfordshire Police and Crime Commissioner](/source/Hertfordshire_Police_and_Crime_Commissioner). In May 2024, he was elected to the role.[1]

## Professional career

Ash-Edwards is chair of trustees and director[7] of Sussex Learning Trust, which is responsible for a number of [academy](/source/Academy_(English_school)) schools across Sussex.[8]
