He has also written for *[King of the Hill](/source/King_of_the_Hill)*, *[The Critic](/source/The_Critic_(TV_series))*, and *[The Office](/source/The_Office_(American_TV_series))*, and has served as a screenwriter or consultant for several animated and live-action movies, including *[Ice Age](/source/Ice_Age_(2002_film))* (2002), *[Robots](/source/Robots_(2005_film))* (2005), and *[Horton Hears a Who!](/source/Horton_Hears_a_Who!_(film))* (2008). He is one of the eleven writers of *[The Simpsons Movie](/source/The_Simpsons_Movie)* and also wrote the screenplays for the film adaptations *[Alvin and the Chipmunks](/source/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks_(film))*, its [sequel](/source/Alvin_and_the_Chipmunks%3A_The_Squeakquel); and *[The Angry Birds Movie](/source/The_Angry_Birds_Movie)*. ## Career Vitti is a graduate of [Harvard University](/source/Harvard_University), where he was president of the *[Harvard Lampoon](/source/Harvard_Lampoon)* along with [Mike Reiss](/source/Mike_Reiss). He was also very close with [Conan O'Brien](/source/Conan_O'Brien) while at Harvard. Prior to joining *The Simpsons*, he had a brief stint at *[Saturday Night Live](/source/Saturday_Night_Live)*, describing his experience on a DVD commentary as "a very unhappy year." Vitti was among the earliest writers hired for *The Simpsons* in 1989; he is credited as a story editor for the show's first season alongside contributing numerous scripts. He would remain on the show's writing staff until his departure in 1993 - following the completion of the show's fourth season - following which he wrote for the HBO series *[The Larry Sanders Show](/source/The_Larry_Sanders_Show)*. Although he would contribute occasional scripts to *The Simpsons* throughout the following decade - most notably "[Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily](/source/Home_Sweet_Homediddly-Dum-Doodily)" - Vitti remained largely uninvolved with the series from the fifth to the twelfth season; he would ultimately return as a producer for seasons 13 and 15.
