Born in [Winnipeg](/source/Winnipeg), [Manitoba](/source/Manitoba), Canada, from parents of Ukrainian ascent,<ref>[https://www.discogs.com/artist/10165324-Jon-Pylypchuk?srsltid=AfmBOorB-Pbdw_gmeb0V-dEZsxIiYGg1H37YdjMmLpn7Ix1j_EjRyxGN Jon Pylypchuk]</ref> Pylypchuk studied in 1996 at the [Yale University](/source/Yale_University) Summer School of Music and Art, New Haven, earned a BFA with Honors in 1997 at the [University of Manitoba](/source/University_of_Manitoba), and an MFA in 2001 at the [University of California, Los Angeles](/source/University_of_California%2C_Los_Angeles).

His work includes sculptures, paintings and drawings, and he has presented his art under the pseudonym Rudy Bust. Pylypchuk has shown internationally in both his solo career and in his collaboration with the Royal Art Lodge. His work has featured at galleries and museums including the [Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland](/source/Museum_of_Contemporary_Art_Cleveland), the [Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit](/source/Museum_of_Contemporary_Art_Detroit), the [UCLA Hammer Museum](/source/UCLA_Hammer_Museum) in Los Angeles, the [ZKM Museum](/source/Center_for_Art_and_Media_Karlsruhe) in Germany, the [Royal Academy](/source/Royal_Academy)  in London, the [State Hermitage](/source/State_Hermitage) in St. Petersburg, and the [Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal](/source/Mus%C3%A9e_d'art_contemporain_de_Montr%C3%A9al). He is represented by [China Art Objects](/source/China_Art_Objects) in Los Angeles, [Friedrich Petzel](/source/Petzel_Gallery) in New York and Eric Hussenot in Paris.
