During his playing career, he has had spells at [Hampton & Richmond](/source/Hampton_%26_Richmond_Borough_F.C.), [Aldershot Town](/source/Aldershot_Town_F.C.), [Dulwich Hamlet](/source/Dulwich_Hamlet_F.C.), [Chesham United](/source/Chesham_United_F.C.), [Chertsey Town](/source/Chertsey_Town_F.C.), [Wealdstone](/source/Wealdstone_F.C.), [Chalfont St Peter](/source/Chalfont_St_Peter_F.C.), [Uxbridge](/source/Uxbridge_F.C.) and [Hounslow](/source/Hounslow_F.C.).

He began coaching at Chesham and then became joint manager alongside [Nas Bashir](/source/Nas_Bashir) at Yeading. He took sole control at [The Warren](/source/The_Warren) in December 2001, and silverware followed with an [Isthmian League Cup](/source/Isthmian_League_Cup) win in 2003. This was followed by back to back Championship titles as Yeading swiftly moved up the [Isthmian League](/source/Isthmian_League) and into the [Conference South](/source/Conference_South).

His reputation as manager of Yeading increased with the prestigious [FA Cup](/source/FA_Cup) tie of [Newcastle United](/source/Newcastle_United_F.C.) in the third round of the [2004–05 FA Cup](/source/2004%E2%80%9305_FA_Cup), which was held at [Queens Park Rangers](/source/Queens_Park_Rangers_F.C.)' He brought FA Cup glory to Maidenhead almost as soon as he arrived at [York Road](/source/York_Road_(stadium)), taking the club to a first round appearance for the first time in 25 years, he then set about winning promotion at the first attempt which was achieved via the playoffs following a late season run of victories. In April 2008, he won the Conference South Manager of the Month award for an unbeaten run which saved the Magpies from relegation. Twelve months later, he led them to their highest ever league finish of sixth place in the [Conference South](/source/Conference_South).
