Taylor attended [Montana State University](/source/Montana_State_University) and was a member of their [football](/source/College_football) team, the Bobcats, graduating in 2002 with a degree in Health and Human Development. Shortly after retiring from professional football in 2005, he began a master's degree program (Higher Education Administration) at [MSU](/source/Montana_State_University), completing the program in 2009. Taylor later joined and became a staff member of the Montana State athletic department.
