'''Sir John Wogan''' (1588–1644) was a [Welsh](/source/Wales) politician who sat in the [House of Commons](/source/House_of_Commons_of_England) at various times between 1614 and 1644.

Wogan was the son of Sir William Wogan of [Wiston, Pembrokeshire](/source/Wiston%2C_Pembrokeshire), and his wife Sybil Owen, the daughter of Sir Hugh Owen of [Orielton](/source/Orielton%2C_Pembrokeshire), and grandson of [John Wogan](/source/John_Wogan_(MP_died_1580)). He matriculated at [Jesus College, Oxford](/source/Jesus_College%2C_Oxford) on 20 November 1607 aged 19.<ref name=Williams>[https://archive.org/stream/cu31924030498939#page/n175/mode/2up The Parliamentary History of the Principality of Wales]</ref>

In 1614 he was elected [Member of Parliament](/source/Member_of_Parliament) for [Pembrokeshire](/source/Pembrokeshire_(UK_Parliament_constituency)), and was re-elected in 1620.  In 1624 he was defeated and petitioned unsuccessfully. In April 1640 Wogan was elected MP for Pembrokeshire in the [Short Parliament](/source/Short_Parliament). He was re-elected MP for Pembrokeshire for the [Long Parliament](/source/Long_Parliament) in November 1640 and sat until his death in 1644.<ref name=Willis/>
