'''John Mealing''' (born {{Birth date and age|df=yes|1942|4|5}} in [Yeovil, Somerset](/source/Yeovil%2C_Somerset)) is a British keyboardist, composer and arranger.

After leaving the [Don Rendell](/source/Don_Rendell)-[Ian Carr](/source/Ian_Carr) Quintet in the late sixties,<ref>{{usurped|1=[https://web.archive.org/web/20081010151035/http://www.jazzscript.co.uk/CDs/rendell64sp.htm Jazzscript]}}</ref> he joined the pioneering British jazz-rock band [If](/source/If_(band)) until they came off the road in 1972. Subsequently appearing on albums by [Klaus Doldinger](/source/Klaus_Doldinger)'s [Passport](/source/Passport_(band)), [Mick Ronson](/source/Mick_Ronson), [Leo Sayer](/source/Leo_Sayer), [John Entwistle](/source/John_Entwistle), [Status Quo](/source/Status_Quo_(band)), and ex-[King Crimson](/source/King_Crimson) drummer [Michael Giles](/source/Michael_Giles), he went on to join [Strawbs](/source/Strawbs) following the departure of [John Hawken](/source/John_Hawken).

In the mid-eighties, Mealing did arrangements for several hit British albums by bands such as [The Style Council](/source/The_Style_Council) and [The Pet Shop Boys](/source/The_Pet_Shop_Boys).

Between 1986 and 1993, he composed the music to the hit BBC Television quiz shows ''[Every Second Counts](/source/Every_Second_Counts_(UK_game_show))'' and ''[Bob's Full House](/source/Bob's_Full_House)''.
