==Training as a sangoma==

In 1997 in [post-apartheid South Africa](/source/post-apartheid_South_Africa) he met Xhosa sangoma Mum Gwevu in the Joza [township](/source/Township_(South_Africa)) in [Grahamstown](/source/Grahamstown), [Eastern Cape](/source/Eastern_Cape). Mum Gwevu says she had foreseen his arrival in a dream. He was [trained as a sangoma](/source/Ukuthwasa) in the Eastern Cape townships, serving a 10-year apprenticeship with Mum Gwevu which he completed in 2007. Mum Gwevu gave him the [Xhosa](/source/Xhosa_language) name ''Ucingolwendaba'', which means "messenger".<ref name=IOL/><ref name=DailyNews/><ref name=DailySun/><ref name=Times/>

He also practices and teaches [yoga](/source/yoga) and [Zen Buddhism](/source/Zen_Buddhism).<ref name=DailySun/>
