## Career

### 2016: ATP debut

Nikles made his ATP main draw debut at the [2016 Swiss Open Gstaad](/source/2016_Swiss_Open_Gstaad), receiving a singles main draw wildcard.

### 2022: Top 300 debut

He qualified for the [2022 Geneva Open](/source/2022_Geneva_Open), defeating 3rd seed [Peter Gojowczyk](/source/Peter_Gojowczyk) and 8th seed [Lukáš Rosol](/source/Luk%C3%A1%C5%A1_Rosol),[1] and won his first ATP singles main draw match against compatriot wildcard [Leandro Riedi](/source/Leandro_Riedi), saving three match points.[2] He lost to [Tallon Griekspoor](/source/Tallon_Griekspoor) in the second round.[3] As a result he moved 40 positions up into the top 300.
