**Joel William Colwill** (born 27 October 2004) is a Welsh professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who plays as an [attacking midfielder](/source/Attacking_midfielder) for [EFL Championship](/source/EFL_Championship) club [Cardiff City](/source/Cardiff_City_F.C.) and the [Wales national team](/source/Wales_national_football_team).

## Club career

Colwill is a product of the Cardiff City academy, signing his first professional contract with Cardiff in June 2022.[1] In August 2023, Colwill made his senior debut for Cardiff City in the [EFL Cup](/source/EFL_Cup) against [Colchester United](/source/Colchester_United_F.C.).[2] Colwill signed a new five-year contract with Cardiff City in September 2023.[3]

On 2 August 2024, Colwill joined [League Two](/source/EFL_League_Two) club [Cheltenham Town](/source/Cheltenham_Town_F.C.) on an initial season-long loan deal.[4] Having impressed over the first-half of the season, it was announced on 10 January 2025 that Colwill would be recalled from his loan at Cheltenham.[5] On 12 January 2025, Colwill was signed by [League One](/source/EFL_League_One) club [Exeter City](/source/Exeter_City_F.C.) on loan until the end of the season.[6]

## International career

Joel Colwill made his Wales Under-21 debut on 8 September 2023 in the 4-0 friendly win against Liechtenstein alongside his brother [Rubin](/source/Rubin_Colwill).[7] In September 2025 he was called up to the Wales senior squad for the first time.[8]

He made his Wales senior debut in a 1-0 [friendly](/source/Exhibition_game#Association_football) defeat to [Canada](/source/Canada_men's_national_soccer_team) on 9 September 2025.[9]
