Sage attended Pottsville High School, [Trinity University](/source/Trinity_University_(Texas)), [Saint Louis University](/source/Saint_Louis_University_(United_States)) and [Drake University](/source/Drake_University).<ref name="a" /> Sage worked as a [lawyer](/source/lawyer).
