**Johan Christiaan Pietersen** (born 18 May 1984) is a South African former [rugby union](/source/Rugby_union) player who also played as the [fly-half](/source/Rugby_union_positions#10._Fly-Half) for the [San Diego Legion](/source/San_Diego_Legion) of [Major League Rugby](/source/Major_League_Rugby) (MLR).

## Professional career

He started his career at [Western Province](/source/Stormers), playing for them in the domestic [Currie Cup](/source/Currie_Cup) and [Vodacom Cup](/source/Vodacom_Cup) competitions, as well as representing the [Stormers](/source/Stormers) in [Super Rugby](/source/Super_Rugby). In 2010, he joined [Bayonne](/source/Aviron_Bayonnais) in France, but on 4 Nov 2011, he rejoined [Western Province](/source/Stormers) on a 2-year deal.[1]

After a second spell in France with [Biarritz](/source/Biarritz_Olympique), he returned to South Africa to join [Bloemfontein](/source/Bloemfontein)-based side the [Free State Cheetahs](/source/Cheetahs_(rugby_union)) in 2014.[2] After just six months, he moved to [Durban](/source/Durban) to join the [Sharks](/source/Sharks_(rugby_union)).[3]

He joined Japanese side [Kamaishi Seawaves](/source/Kamaishi_Seawaves) prior to the 2016–2017 Top East League season.[4]
