**Joe McCord**, born in [Knoxville, Tennessee](/source/Knoxville,_Tennessee), is a [Tennessee](/source/Tennessee) politician and formerly served in the [Tennessee House of Representatives](/source/Tennessee_House_of_Representatives) representing the 8th district, which is a part of [Blount County](/source/Blount_County,_Tennessee) and [Sevier County](/source/Sevier_County,_Tennessee).[1] He was first elected to the 101st [General Assembly](/source/Tennessee_General_Assembly) and served as a member of the

[Republican Party](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)). He was vice chair of the [Wildlife](/source/Wildlife) Subcommittee and a member of the [Commerce](/source/Commerce) Committee, the [Conservation](/source/Conservation_movement) and [Environment](/source/Environmentalism) Committee, the [Ethics](/source/Ethics) Committee, the Environment Subcommittee, and the Industrial Impact Subcommittee. During the 103rd General Assembly, he was a member of the Utilities and [Banking](/source/Bank) Subcommittee. He also served as the Minority Caucus Vice-Chairman. In 2011, at the beginning of the 107th General Assembly, Speaker [Beth Harwell](/source/Beth_Harwell) appointed him Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives. He was reappointed to this post for the 108th General Assembly, which began in January 2013. He graduated from [Maryville High School](/source/Maryville_High_School_(Tennessee)), received a [B.A.](/source/Bachelor_of_Arts) from the [University of Tennessee](/source/University_of_Tennessee) in 1991, and worked as a businessman.
