**Joe Greenwood** (born 2 April 1993) is an English professional [rugby league](/source/Rugby_league) footballer who plays as a [second-row](/source/Rugby_league_positions#Second-row_forward) forward for the [Huddersfield Giants](/source/Huddersfield_Giants) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League),[4] the [England Knights](/source/England_Knights) and [England](/source/England_national_rugby_league_team) at international level.[5]

He played for [St Helens](/source/St_Helens_R.F.C.) and the [Wigan Warriors](/source/Wigan_Warriors) in the [Super League](/source/Super_League), and on loan from [Wigan](/source/Wigan_Warriors) at the [Leeds Rhinos](/source/Leeds_Rhinos) in the top flight. Greenwood has also played for the [Gold Coast Titans](/source/Gold_Coast_Titans) in the [NRL](/source/NRL).

Greenwood was born in [Oldham](/source/Oldham), [Greater Manchester](/source/Greater_Manchester), England.

He played his junior rugby league for the [Saddleworth](/source/Saddleworth) Rangers club.[4]

## Career

### St Helens

In 2014 won the Super League Championship with St Helens.[4]

### Gold Coast Titans

On 20 February 2017, he signed to play for the [Gold Coast](/source/Gold_Coast_Titans) in the [National Rugby League](/source/National_Rugby_League).[6]

### Wigan Warriors

He played in the [2018 Super League Grand Final](/source/2018_Super_League_Grand_Final) victory over [Warrington](/source/Warrington_Wolves) at [Old Trafford](/source/Old_Trafford).[7]

### Leeds Rhinos (loan)

On 25 February 2020, Wigan allowed Greenwood to sign a short eight-week loan with Leeds.[8] On 16 March, the [Rugby Football League](/source/Rugby_Football_League) announced the [postponement all rugby league fixtures](/source/Impact_of_the_COVID-19_pandemic_on_rugby_league) in England due to the [COVID-19 pandemic](/source/COVID-19_pandemic),[9] and Greenwood returned to Wigan without making an appearance for Leeds when the competition restarted in August.[10]

### Wigan Warriors (return)

He played in the [2020 Super League Grand Final](/source/2020_Super_League_Grand_Final) which Wigan lost 8-4 against St Helens.[11]

### Huddersfield Giants

On 10 December 2020, it was announced that Greenwood would be joining Huddersfield on a two-year deal from the 2021 season.[12] In round 2 of the 2021 Super League season, he was sent off after a dangerous high tackle in Huddersfield's 20-10 loss against the [Catalans Dragons](/source/Catalans_Dragons).[13] On 28 May 2022, Greenwood played for Huddersfield in their [2022 Challenge Cup Final](/source/2022_Challenge_Cup_Final) loss to [Wigan](/source/Wigan_Warriors).[14] Greenwood played 14 matches with Huddersfield in the 2023 Super League season as the club finished ninth on the table and missed the playoffs.[15] Greenwood played 14 games for Huddersfield in the 2024 Super League season as the club finished 9th for a second consecutive year.[16] Greenwood played 23 matches for Huddersfield in the 2025 Super League season as the club finished 10th on the table.[17]

## International career

In July 2018 he was selected in the [England Knights](/source/England_Knights) Performance squad.[18]

Greenwood made his full international début v [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand_national_rugby_league_team) at [Elland Road](/source/Elland_Road), Leeds on 11 November 2018, coming off the bench in the 0-34 defeat.[19] In 2019 he was selected for the [England Knights](/source/England_Knights) against [Jamaica](/source/Jamaica_national_rugby_league_team) at [Headingley Rugby Stadium](/source/Headingley_Rugby_Stadium).[20]
