== Early life and education ==
Hon. (Chief) Joe was born January 31, 1960, to the family of Late Pa. Edionwele of Idumun-ogo Iruekpen, [Ekpoma](/source/Ekpoma), [Esan West Local Government Area](/source/Esan_West), [Edo State](/source/Edo_State), [Nigeria](/source/Nigeria).<ref name=":0">{{Cite web|title=Nigeria ScoreCard|url=https://www.nigeriascorecard.com/representative/view/joseph-e-edionwele/102|access-date=2021-07-15|website=www.nigeriascorecard.com}}</ref> Hon. Edionwele attended St. Paul Anglican Primary School Iruekpen (1966 – 1972), Ujoelen Grammar School, [Ekpoma](/source/Ekpoma), from 1973 – 1978. He proceeded to [Auchi](/source/Auchi) Federal Polytechnic, [Auchi](/source/Auchi), where he obtained Higher [National Diploma](/source/National_Diploma_(Nigeria)) (HND) in Accounting, in 1985.<ref>{{Cite web|title=Hon. == Career ==
Hon. Edionwele briefly worked as a teaching assistant at Ujoelen Grammar School after his secondary education before proceeding to further his education. After graduation, he was posted to [Abia State](/source/Abia_State) for his mandatory [National Youth Service](/source/National_Youth_Service_Corps) in 1985/1986.

Upon completion of his national youth service, he worked with [Union Bank of Nigeria](/source/Union_Bank_of_Nigeria) before gaining employment to work with [Nigeria Institute for Oil Palm Research](/source/Nigeria_Institute_for_Oil_Palm_Research) (NIFOR), [Edo State](/source/Edo_State). At NIFOR, he rose to the position of a chief accountant before resigning to pursue his political career.

== Politics ==
In 1999, Hon. Edionwele contested and won the election for the position of a Local Government Chairman of [Esan West](/source/Esan_West) Local Government under the platform of [the People's Democratic Party](/source/Peoples_Democratic_Party_(Nigeria)) (PDP) (1999 – 2002).<ref name=":0" /> Subsequently, in 2003, he was appointed a member of [the Edo State](/source/Edo_State) [Local Government](/source/Local_government) Service Commission. He served in various capacities: a member of the Board of the [National Orthopedic Hospit](/source/National_Orthopaedic_Hospital%2C_Igbobi)<nowiki/>al, [Enugu](/source/Enugu_(city)) and the Secretary of South-South [People's Democratic Party](/source/Peoples_Democratic_Party_(Nigeria)), PDP.

In 2015 Hon.
