# Joe Decker

**George Henry Decker Jr.** (June 16, 1947 – March 2, 2003) was an American [Major League Baseball](/source/Major_League_Baseball) [pitcher](/source/Pitcher) for the [Chicago Cubs](/source/Chicago_Cubs) (1969–72), [Minnesota Twins](/source/Minnesota_Twins) (1973–76) and [Seattle Mariners](/source/Seattle_Mariners) (1979). He was born in [Storm Lake, Iowa](/source/Storm_Lake,_Iowa).[1]

Decker was drafted in the 1965 MLB draft in the 9th round by the Chicago Cubs after playing at [Petaluma High School](/source/Petaluma_High_School) in [Petaluma, California](/source/Petaluma,_California).[2]

He was traded along with [Bill Hands](/source/Bill_Hands) and minor‐league pitcher Bob Maneely by the Cubs to the [Minnesota Twins](/source/Minnesota_Twins) for [Dave LaRoche](/source/Dave_LaRoche) on December 1, 1972.[3]

He died at age 55 from head injuries following a fall at his home in [Fraser, Michigan](/source/Fraser,_Michigan).[4]
