**James Browne** (born 29 July 1960) is an [Irish](/source/Irish_people) former sportsman. He played [Gaelic football](/source/Gaelic_football) for his local club [Ballina Stephenites](/source/Ballina_Stephenites_GAA) and was a member of the senior [Mayo county team](/source/Mayo_county_football_team) from 1986 until 1990. Browne [captained](/source/Captain_(Gaelic_games)) Mayo in the [1989 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship final](/source/1989_All-Ireland_Senior_Football_Championship_final), and was afterwards selected on the GAA All Star team of the year.[2]
