# Jim Larsen

**Jim Larsen** (born 6 November 1985) is a Danish former professional [footballer](/source/Association_football) who played as a [centre-back](/source/Centre-back).

## Club career

### Early years

Larsen was born in [Korsør](/source/Kors%C3%B8r), [West Zealand](/source/West_Zealand_County), Denmark, and from an early age joined the [AGF](/source/Aarhus_Gymnastikforening) academy of Hessel Gods Fodboldkostskole in [tenth grade](/source/Tenth_grade#Denmark), where he was coached by the likes of [Flemming Povlsen](/source/Flemming_Povlsen) and [Lars Lundkvist](/source/Lars_Lundkvist), and played for [Grenaa IF](/source/FC_Djursland)'s team in the [Jutland Series](/source/Jutland_Series) and [Denmark Series](/source/Denmark_Series).[1] He then left AGF and followed Lundkvist to [Brabrand](/source/Brabrand_IF), where he played for two years in the second-tier [Danish 1st Division](/source/Danish_1st_Division), before signing with [Silkeborg](/source/Silkeborg_IF).[1]

### Rosenborg

On 12 March 2011, Larsen signed a four-year contract with [Tippeligaen](/source/Eliteserien) club [Rosenborg](/source/Rosenborg_BK).[2] In his [debut season](/source/2011_Tippeligaen) at the club, he scored six goals as Rosenborg finished in a disappointing third place.[3]

### Club Brugge

In July 2012, Larsen moved to [Club Brugge](/source/Club_Brugge_K.V.).[4] His stay in Belgium was unsuccessful—after only 17 appearances and one goal, Larsen left the club due to recurring injuries.[5]

### Midtjylland

On 15 August 2014, it was announced that Larsen had signed a one-year contract with [Midtjylland](/source/FC_Midtjylland).[6] He made his debut on the same day as replacement for the injured [Erik Sviatchenko](/source/Erik_Sviatchenko) in a 2–1 victory against [FC Copenhagen](/source/F.C._Copenhagen).[7] In January 2015, he signed a one-year contract extension with the club until July 2016.[8] In his first season at the club, Larsen made 18 appearances for Midtjylland and scored three goals, as the team won their first [Superliga](/source/Danish_Superliga) title.[9]

After struggling with injuries during large parts of the [2015–16 season](/source/2015%E2%80%9316_Danish_Superliga), Larsen announced that he was retiring from football at the age of 30.[10]

## International career

On 11 October 2009, Larsen was called up for the [Danish national team](/source/Denmark_national_football_team) for a [2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier](/source/2010_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_-_UEFA_Group_1) against [Hungary](/source/Hungary_national_football_team), after [Per Krøldrup](/source/Per_Kr%C3%B8ldrup) was injured.[11]
