"Jim" Hoops''' is an American [statesman (politician)](/source/statesman_(politician)) who has served as a member of the [Ohio House of Representatives](/source/Ohio_House_of_Representatives). Appointed in 2018, he previously served four terms representing the same seat from 1999 to 2006. By 2006, Hoops was [term limited](/source/term_limited), and was unable to seek another term in the House. Instead, he opted to run for the [Ohio Senate](/source/Ohio_Senate), to again succeed Wachtmann.
