He played 6 games in the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) with the [Minnesota North Stars](/source/Minnesota_North_Stars) during the [1977–78 season](/source/1977%E2%80%9378_NHL_season). The rest of his career, which lasted from 1978 to 1980, was spent in the [Central Hockey League](/source/Central_Professional_Hockey_League).

== Career ==
Although he was born in Missouri, Boo grew up in [Mahtomedi, Minnesota](/source/Mahtomedi%2C_Minnesota).<ref>{{cite web | url=https://gophersports.com/sports/mens-ice-hockey/roster/jim-boo/6181 | title=Jim Boo - Men's Hockey }}</ref> Boo played junior hockey for the Mahtomedi High School team before joining the [University of Minnesota](/source/University_of_Minnesota) Golden Gophers. He was part of the team that won the 1976 [NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship](/source/NCAA_Men's_Ice_Hockey_Championship).

The [Minnesota North Stars](/source/Minnesota_North_Stars) of the [National Hockey League](/source/National_Hockey_League) signed Boo to a free-agent contract during the [1977–78 season](/source/1977%E2%80%9378_NHL_season). He played six games for the team. For the next two seasons, Boo played for the [Central Hockey League](/source/Central_Professional_Hockey_League) [Oklahoma City Stars](/source/Oklahoma_City_Stars_(ice_hockey)). He retired from ice hockey following the 1980 season.

After his hockey career ended, Boo began working in the [real estate](/source/real_estate) industry, eventually forming his own company, [http://www.teamboo.com Team Boo Realty] with his wife, Tracy.
