**Jhalokati-2** is a constituency represented in the [Jatiya Sangsad](/source/Jatiya_Sangsad) (National Parliament) of [Bangladesh](/source/Bangladesh).

## Boundaries

The constituency encompasses [Jhalokati Sadar](/source/Jhalokati_Sadar_Upazila) and [Nalchity](/source/Nalchity_Upazila) upazilas.[2][3] It is known as the centre point and trade body for the entire division as it consists of the most efficient routes connecting to all districts of the division.

## History

The constituency was created in 1984 from a Bakerganj constituency when the former [Bakerganj District](/source/Backergunge_District) was split into four districts: [Bhola](/source/Bhola_District), [Bakerganj](/source/Barisal_District), [Jhalokati](/source/Jhalokati_District), and [Pirojpur](/source/Pirojpur_District).

Amir Hossain Amu was re-elected unopposed in the [2014 general election](/source/2014_Bangladeshi_general_election) after opposition parties withdrew their candidacies in a boycott of the election.[8]

Zulfiker Ali Bhutto died in May 2000,[12] his widow, Amir Hossain Amu was elected in a July 2000 by-election, defeating Israt Sultana Elen Bhutto.
