**Jessica Darrow** (born January 7, 1995) is an American actor and singer[1] best known for voicing the character Luisa Madrigal in [Disney](/source/Disney)'s *[Encanto](/source/Encanto)* and for playing Mikki Easton in *[Fifteen-Love](/source/Fifteen-Love).*[2]

## Early life

Darrow was born in [Miami, Florida](/source/Miami,_Florida). They are of Cuban descent. As a teenager, they watched Disney films and listened to songs written by [Lin-Manuel Miranda](/source/Lin-Manuel_Miranda). Darrow attended and graduated from [Rutgers University](/source/Rutgers_University).[3]

## Career

Darrow's first film role was Sarah in the 2019 film *[Feast of the Seven Fishes](/source/Feast_of_the_Seven_Fishes_(film)),* directed by [Robert Tinnell](/source/Robert_Tinnell). They rose to fame in 2021 acting in the [Disney](/source/Disney) animated feature film *[Encanto](/source/Encanto)* as the voice of Luisa Madrigal. They sang one of the film's most popular songs, "[Surface Pressure](/source/Surface_Pressure)", which was certified platinum by the [RIAA](/source/Recording_Industry_Association_of_America) and peaked at number 8 on the [Billboard Hot 100](/source/Billboard_Hot_100) chart in early 2022. Darrow voiced Mimi in *[Grand Theft Auto Online](/source/Grand_Theft_Auto_Online)'*s 2021 update "Los Santos Tuners."[4][5][6]

## Personal life

Darrow is [nonbinary](/source/Nonbinary). They use *[they/them](/source/They/them)* and *[elle/le/e](/source/Elle_(Spanish_pronoun))* pronouns since December 2025.[7] In an interview for *[Deadline Hollywood](/source/Deadline_Hollywood),* Darrow voiced their support of the [LGBT community](/source/LGBT_community) in the wake of the [Parental Rights in Education Act](/source/Parental_Rights_in_Education_Act) passage in Miami, where they were born, "Here I am being [queer](/source/Queer) and gorgeous, and I'm on the [red carpet](/source/Red_carpet), and I'm very happy to represent fellow gorgeous queer people."[5][8]
