Fosnow batted [right-handed](/source/right-handed), stood {{convert|6|ft|4|in}} tall and weighed {{convert|195|lb}}.

Originally signed by the [Cleveland Indians](/source/Cleveland_Indians), Fosnow pitched a [no-hit game](/source/no-hit_game) on August 20, 1959, his first professional season, while pitching for the [Selma Cloverleafs](/source/Selma_Cloverleafs_(1928%E2%80%931962)) in the Class D [Alabama–Florida League](/source/Alabama%E2%80%93Florida_League).<ref>Spink, C.C. In seven appearances and {{frac|10|2|3}} [innings pitched](/source/innings_pitched), all in [relief](/source/relief_pitcher), Fosnow sported a 0–1 [win–loss record](/source/Win%E2%80%93loss_record_(pitching)) and a poor 10.64 [earned run average](/source/earned_run_average).

However, he earned a job in the [1965 Twins'](/source/1965_Minnesota_Twins_season) [bullpen](/source/bullpen) coming out of [spring training](/source/spring_training) and won his first Major League game on Opening Day, April 12, pitching two scoreless innings against the [New York Yankees](/source/New_York_Yankees) in relief of [Jim Kaat](/source/Jim_Kaat).<ref>[http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/1965/B04120MIN1965.htm 1965-4-12 box score from Retrosheet]</ref> The Yankees were the defending [American League](/source/American_League) champions, but the 1965 Twins would go on to win the AL pennant, the first for the franchise since its relocation to the [Twin Cities](/source/Twin_Cities%2C_Minnesota) in 1961.  Fosnow would appear in 29 games that season, and compile a 3–3 record with a 4.44 earned average in {{frac|46|2|3}} innings. But he was sent to the Triple-A [Denver Bears](/source/Denver_Bears) after his last MLB game on July 16, 1965, and did not appear on the Twins' [World Series](/source/1965_World_Series) roster.  He left baseball after the 1967 season.
