**Jennifer Chapin** is an American singer-songwriter. She is the daughter of the singer-songwriter [Harry Chapin](/source/Harry_Chapin) and [Sandra Chapin](/source/Sandra_Chapin). She serves on the board of directors of [WhyHunger](/source/World_Hunger_Year), a grassroots support organization founded in 1975 by her father and the current[*[when?](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Dates_and_numbers#Chronological_items)*] executive director [Bill Ayres](/source/Bill_Ayres). She has been compared at times with [Laura Nyro](/source/Laura_Nyro), [Tori Amos](/source/Tori_Amos) and [Alanis Morissette](/source/Alanis_Morissette).[1]

Chapin's website describes her music as "jazz tinged urban folk soul...incorporating the funk, soul and improvisation of the city".[2]

She studied at [Brown University](/source/Brown_University) and the [Berklee College of Music](/source/Berklee_College_of_Music). She is also the sixth cousin of country singer [Mary Chapin Carpenter](/source/Mary_Chapin_Carpenter).

In her recent years, Jen Chapin has taken up the occupational role of a high school history teacher, specializing in global history and teaching at a local Brooklyn high school.
