**Jeffrey Wiley** is an American politician serving as a member of the [Louisiana House of Representatives](/source/Louisiana_House_of_Representatives) from the 81st district. A member of the [Republican Party](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)), Wiley representing parts of [Ascension Parish](/source/Ascension_Parish), [Livingston Parish](/source/Livingston_Parish), and [St. James Parish](/source/St._James_Parish%2C_Louisiana), and has been in office since January 8, 2024.[1][2] Wiley was the Ascension Parish Sheriff from 1996 to 2019.[3]

## Tenure

In 2024, Wiley voted in favor of advancing House Bill 545 from the Administration of Criminal Justice committee.[4] The bill, filed by [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_(United_States)) [Beryl Amedee](/source/Beryl_Amedee), would remove legal protections for obscenity from teachers and librarians in all Louisiana public schools.[5]
