== Biography ==

Strand was born in [Baltimore](/source/Baltimore), Maryland, and moved to [Fairbanks, Alaska](/source/Fairbanks%2C_Alaska), at six months of age.<ref>{{Cite web|url=https://www.fantasticfiction.com/s/jeff-strand/|title=Jeff Strand|website=fantasticfiction.com|access-date=2019-05-05}}</ref> Prior to his freshman year of high school, he moved to [Kent, Ohio](/source/Kent%2C_Ohio), and attended [Theodore Roosevelt High School](/source/Theodore_Roosevelt_High_School_(Kent%2C_Ohio)), graduating in 1989. He went on to [Bowling Green State University](/source/Bowling_Green_State_University) in [Bowling Green, Ohio](/source/Bowling_Green%2C_Ohio), where he majored in creative writing. After graduating college, he briefly returned to Alaska before moving back to Ohio. His next move was to [Tucson, Arizona](/source/Tucson%2C_Arizona).<ref name=":0" /> Strand moved to Tampa, Florida in 1996, and worked for MetLife as a Remittance Service Analyst for almost twenty years before quitting his day job to write full-time in 2015.<ref name=":0" /> He lived briefly in [Atlanta, Georgia](/source/Atlanta%2C_Georgia), and [Chattanooga, Tennessee](/source/Chattanooga%2C_Tennessee), before moving to [Duluth, Minnesota](/source/Duluth%2C_Minnesota).
