Jeffrey A. Poskanzer Occupation computer programmer Known for pbmplus

**Jeffrey A. Poskanzer** is a computer programmer. He was the first[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*] person to post a weekly [FAQ](/source/FAQ) to [Usenet](/source/Usenet).[1] He developed the [portable pixmap](/source/Portable_pixmap) file format and [pbmplus](/source/Pbmplus) (the precursor to the [Netpbm](/source/Netpbm) package) to manipulate it.[2] He has also worked on the team that ported [A/UX](/source/A%2FUX).[3] He has shared in two [USENIX Lifetime Achievement Awards](/source/USENIX#USENIX_Lifetime_Achievement_Award) – in 1993 for Berkeley Unix, and in 1996 for the Software Tools Project.[*[citation needed](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)*]

He owns the Internet domain name acme.com (which is notable for receiving over one million [e-mail spams](/source/E-mail_spam) a day[4]), which is the home page for ACME Laboratories.
