**Jean-Philippe Duval** (born 1968) is a Canadian film and television director from [Quebec City](/source/Quebec_City), [Quebec](/source/Quebec).[1] He is most noted for his 1999 films *[Matroni and Me](/source/Matroni_and_Me) (Matroni et moi)*, for which he received [Jutra Award](/source/Jutra_Award) nominations for [Best Director](/source/Prix_Iris_for_Best_Director) and [Best Screenplay](/source/Prix_Iris_for_Best_Screenplay) at the [2nd Jutra Awards](/source/2nd_Jutra_Awards),[2] and a [Genie Award](/source/Genie_Award) nomination for [Best Adapted Screenplay](/source/Genie_Award_for_Best_Screenplay) at the [20th Genie Awards](/source/20th_Genie_Awards),[3] and his 2009 film *[Through the Mist](/source/Through_the_Mist) (Dédé, à travers les brumes)*, which received Jutra nominations for both Best Director and Best Screenplay at the [12th Jutra Awards](/source/12th_Jutra_Awards).[4]

At the 2nd Jutra Awards, his documentary film *[Light of the Snow Geese](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Light_of_the_Snow_Geese&action=edit&redlink=1) (Lumière des oiseaux)* was also a nominee for [Best Documentary Film](/source/Prix_Iris_for_Best_Documentary_Film).[2]
