Montgomery is a former provincial junior champion. He skipped British Columbia at the [2003 Canadian Junior Curling Championships](/source/2003_Canadian_Junior_Curling_Championships). His team of [Cliff Carr-Hilton](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cliff_Carr-Hilton&action=edit&redlink=1), [Miles Craig](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Miles_Craig&action=edit&redlink=1) and [Will Duggan](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Will_Duggan&action=edit&redlink=1) placed 4th (8-4), and they lost in the tiebreaker game to Alberta.

Montgomery skipped the British Columbia team at the [2010 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship](/source/2010_Canadian_Mixed_Curling_Championship).
