# Jason Lamar

**Jason James Lamar** (born November 10, 1978) is an American former professional [football](/source/Gridiron_football) [linebacker](/source/Linebacker) who played one season with the [Houston Texans](/source/Houston_Texans) of the [National Football League](/source/National_Football_League) (NFL). He played [college football](/source/College_football) at the [University of Toledo](/source/University_of_Toledo)]. He was also a member of the [Hamilton Tiger-Cats](/source/Hamilton_Tiger-Cats), [Montreal Alouettes](/source/Montreal_Alouettes), and [Edmonton Eskimos](/source/Edmonton_Eskimos) of the [Canadian Football League](/source/Canadian_Football_League) (CFL).

## Early life and college

Jason James Lamar was born on November 10, 1978, in [Detroit, Michigan](/source/Detroit,_Michigan).[1] He attended [Ypsilanti High School](/source/Ypsilanti_High_School) in [Ypsilanti, Michigan](/source/Ypsilanti,_Michigan).[1]

He [lettered](/source/Letterman_(sports)) for the [Toledo Rockets](/source/Toledo_Rockets_football) from 1997 to 1999.[1]

## Professional career

After spending the 2000 season with the [San Francisco 49ers](/source/San_Francisco_49ers),[2] Lamar signed with the [Hamilton Tiger-Cats](/source/Hamilton_Tiger-Cats) in May 2001. He was a CFL [East Division](/source/Canadian_Football_League_East_Division) All-Star in 2001.[3]

Lamar was signed by the [Houston Texans](/source/Houston_Texans) on January 22, 2002.[4] He played in five games for the Texans in .[1] He was released by the Texans on August 31, 2003.[4]

Lamar was signed by the [Edmonton Eskimos](/source/Edmonton_Eskimos) in September 2003.[5] The Eskimos won the [91st Grey Cup](/source/91st_Grey_Cup) on November 16, 2003, against the [Montreal Alouettes](/source/Montreal_Alouettes).

Lamar was traded to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on April 20, 2004.[3][5] He was released after arguing on the sidelines with head coach [Greg Marshall](/source/Greg_Marshall_(running_back)).[6]

Lamar played in two games for the Montreal Alouettes in .[6]

Lamar signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on May 10, 2005.[6]
