**Jason Kropf** is an American politician and attorney serving as a member of the [Oregon House of Representatives](/source/Oregon_House_of_Representatives) from the [54th district](/source/Oregon's_54th_House_district). Elected in 2020, he assumed office in January 2021.

## Early life and education

Kropf is a fifth-generation resident of [Oregon](/source/Oregon). Raised in Southern Oregon, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from [Oregon State University](/source/Oregon_State_University) and a [Juris Doctor](/source/Juris_Doctor) from the [University of Oregon School of Law](/source/University_of_Oregon_School_of_Law).[1][2][3]

## Career

Prior to entering politics, Kropf worked as a public defender and deputy district attorney in [Deschutes County, Oregon](/source/Deschutes_County%2C_Oregon).[4][5] Elected in the 2020 general election, Kropf defeated incumbent Republican [Cheri Helt](/source/Cheri_Helt). He assumed office in January 2021.[6]

## Personal life

Kropf lives in [Bend, Oregon](/source/Bend%2C_Oregon), with his wife and daughter.[7]
