# Jane Baer

**Jane Maureen Shattuck Takamoto Baer** (/bɛər/ BAIR; ; October 30, 1934 – February 16, 2026) was a Canadian-American animator.[1] She worked on numerous films, including *[The Fox and the Hound](/source/The_Fox_and_the_Hound)* (1981), *[Mickey's Christmas Carol](/source/Mickey's_Christmas_Carol)* (1983), *[The Black Cauldron](/source/The_Black_Cauldron_(film))* (1985), *[Who Framed Roger Rabbit](/source/Who_Framed_Roger_Rabbit)* (1988), and *[Rover Dangerfield](/source/Rover_Dangerfield)* (1991).[2][3][4] She was a member of [the Animation Guild](/source/The_Animation_Guild), the [Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences](/source/Academy_of_Motion_Picture_Arts_and_Sciences), and the [Academy of Television Arts & Sciences](/source/Academy_of_Television_Arts_%26_Sciences).[3][4] She was also a founding member of [Women in Animation](/source/Women_in_Animation) and was part of its advisory board.[3]

Baer was born in [Winnipeg](/source/Winnipeg), Manitoba, on October 30, 1934.[2][4] She died in [Van Nuys](/source/Van_Nuys), California on February 16, 2026, at the age of 91.[2][3][4]
