# Jan Quast

**Jan Quast** (born 9 January 1970 in [Rostock](/source/Rostock)) is a German former [boxer](/source/Boxing) who competed in the [light flyweight](/source/Light_flyweight) (– 48 kg) division during the late 1980s, early 1990s.

## Boxing career

As a junior he won a bronze medal at the [1987 World Junior Championships](/source/Youth_and_Junior_World_Boxing_Championships) in [Havana](/source/Havana).[1]

He represented his native country at the [1992 Summer Olympics](/source/Boxing_at_the_1992_Summer_Olympics) in [Barcelona](/source/Barcelona), where he won the bronze medal. In the semifinals he was stopped by Bulgaria's eventual runner-up [Daniel Petrov](/source/Daniel_Petrov). Quast also won the bronze medal at the [1989 European Amateur Boxing Championships](/source/1989_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Athens](/source/Athens) and was a participant in the next three Championships in [1991](/source/1991_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Gothenburg](/source/Gothenburg), [1993](/source/1993_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Bursa](/source/Bursa) and in [1996](/source/1996_European_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Vejle](/source/Vejle). He also participated in five World Championships in [1989](/source/1989_World_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Moscow](/source/Moscow), [1991](/source/1991_World_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Sydney](/source/Sydney), [1993](/source/1993_World_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Tampere](/source/Tampere), [1995](/source/1995_World_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Berlin](/source/Berlin) and [1997](/source/1997_World_Amateur_Boxing_Championships) in [Budapest](/source/Budapest).

He won the Chemistry Cup international tournament in [Halle](/source/Halle_(Saale)) in 1992, 1993, 1995 and 1996.[2]
