# Jan McLean

**Jan McLean** is a retired [dollmaker](/source/Doll) from [Dunedin](/source/Dunedin) in [New Zealand](/source/New_Zealand).[1]

McLean's first dolls, "Chloe" and "Phoebe" were created in 1987.[1] In 1991, she exhibited at the [American International Toy Fair](/source/American_International_Toy_Fair) in New York City,[2] where her doll "Pansy" won a Dolls Award for Excellence.[3]

Many of McLean's dolls are made of [porcelain](/source/Porcelain), but she has also produced smaller versions of the porcelain originals since 2003 in [vinyl polymer](/source/Vinyl_polymer), known as "Lollipop Girls".[1]

In 2009, she retired from dollmaking.
