# Jamie Lowe

**Jamie Lowe** (born December 9, 1999)[1] is an American politician. A member of the [Alabama Democratic Party](/source/Alabama_Democratic_Party), he is currently serving as the chair of the [Lee County](/source/Lee_County,_Alabama) Democratic Party.

## Education

Lowe attended [Opelika High School](/source/Opelika_High_School), where he was class president.[2] He was awarded a $40,000 scholarship, and attended [Auburn University](/source/Auburn_University).[3][4][5]

## Career

In 2017, Lowe began working with [family court](/source/Family_court) judge Mike Fellows, as an intern.[6] He became a trained family and divorce [mediator](/source/Mediation) in 2019.[7]

He first entered politics when he announced his run for [Opelika](/source/Opelika,_Alabama) City Council in 2020.[8] He went on to lose the election in a [runoff election](/source/Runoff_(election)), held in October.[9] He received 44% in the first round, and 29% in the second round.[10][11]

He was selected as a member of the Lee-Russell Council of Governments in December 2022.[12]

After the [withdrawal of Joe Biden from the 2024 United States presidential election](/source/Withdrawal_of_Joe_Biden_from_the_2024_United_States_presidential_election), Lowe stated that some Democrats believed it was time for a transition in the party.[13] He was captain of the Alabama delegation to the [2024 Democratic National Convention](/source/2024_Democratic_National_Convention).[14]

He announced his bid for the 82nd [Alabama House of Representatives](/source/Alabama_House_of_Representatives) district in [2026](/source/2026_Alabama_House_of_Representatives_election), running in the Democratic primary against incumbent [Pebblin Warren](/source/Pebblin_Warren).[15]
