**James Joseph MacNamee** was an Irish Roman Catholic Bishop in the 20th Century.[2]

McNamee was born at [Fintona](/source/Fintona) on 11 December 1876. He was educated at [St Macartan's College, Monaghan](/source/St_Macartan's_College) and [St Patrick's College, Maynooth](/source/St_Patrick's_College%2C_Maynooth).[3] After [curacies](/source/Curate) at [Clones](/source/Clones%2C_County_Monaghan) and [Monaghan](/source/Monaghan) he was Administrator of Monaghan then Parish Priest at Clones.

MacNamee was appointed [Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise](/source/Bishop_of_Ardagh_and_Clonmacnoise) on 20 June 1927[4] and consecrated on 31 July that year.[5] He died on 24 April 1966 and was succeeded by [Cahal Daly](/source/Cahal_Daly), later Archbishop of Armagh.[6]
