# James Bonde

[The Venerable](/source/The_Venerable) **James Bond** was an [Anglican](/source/Anglican) [priest](/source/Priest) in [England](/source/England) during the mid [16th Century](/source/16th_Century).

Bond was educated at [Magdalen College, Oxford](/source/Magdalen_College,_Oxford), becoming a [Fellow](/source/Fellow) in 1539.[1] He was appointed [Fellow](/source/Fellow) in 1564 and [Praelector](/source/Praelector) in 1578. He held [livings](/source/Living_(Christianity)) at [Shepton Mallet](/source/Shepton_Mallet), [Stogumber](/source/Stogumber) and [Bridestowe](/source/Bridestowe). He was appointed a [Canon Residentiary](/source/Canon_Residentiary) of [Wells Cathedral](/source/Wells_Cathedral) in 1544 and [Archdeacon of Bath](/source/Archdeacon_of_Bath) in 1560, holding both posts until his death 25 November 1570.[2]
