**Jamal Al Haj** ([Arabic](/source/Arabic_language): جَمَال الْحَاجّ; born 28 August 1971) is a Lebanese [football](/source/Association_football) manager and former player.

Al Haj played for [Nejmeh](/source/Nejmeh_SC) as a [midfielder](/source/Midfielder), whom he captained, as well as for the [Lebanon national team](/source/Lebanon_national_football_team). He was the [Lebanese Premier League](/source/Lebanese_Premier_League) top scorer in his debut season, in [1989–90](/source/1989%E2%80%9390_Lebanese_Premier_League), scoring 12 goals. Al Haj also played for Ahed in 2004.

In 2017 he managed Nejmeh, but was fired two months later. Al Haj took charge of the [Lebanon national under-23 team](/source/Lebanon_national_under-23_football_team) between 2020 and 2021. In 2024, he was appointed head coach of Ahed.

## Club career

Al Haj made his debut for [Nejmeh](/source/Nejmeh_SC) under [Samir Al Adou](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Samir_Al_Adou&action=edit&redlink=1), during the [1989–90 Lebanese Premier League](/source/1989%E2%80%9390_Lebanese_Premier_League).[1] In his debut season, Al Haj was the league's top scorer, with 12 goals, above [Fadi Alloush](/source/Fadi_Alloush) and Yasser Mansour from [Tadamon Beirut](/source/Tadamon_Beirut_SC) who had scored eight goals each.[1] He remained at [Nejmeh](/source/Nejmeh_SC) for 14 years, captaining them for a certain period, before moving to [Ahed](/source/Al_Ahed_FC) in 2004.[2]

## International career

## Managerial career

Al Haj was manager of [Lebanese Second Division](/source/Lebanese_Second_Division) side [Khoyol](/source/Al_Khoyol_FC) in 2013.[3][4] Ahead of the [2017–18 season](/source/2017%E2%80%9318_Lebanese_Premier_League), Al Haj was appointed head coach of Nejmeh;[5] he was fired two months later.[2] On 12 October 2020, Al Haj was announced head coach of the [Lebanon national under-23 team](/source/Lebanon_national_under-23_football_team).[6] He resigned on 26 July 2021.[7]

On 3 August 2021, Al Haj was appointed technical director of [Ahed](/source/Al_Ahed_FC)'s youth sector and remained in this position for two years.[8] Al Hajj returned to Ahed as a head coach, in August 2024 and prior to the [2024–25 Lebanese Premier League](/source/2024%E2%80%9325_Lebanese_Premier_League). ## Personal life

Al Haj has two sons, [Youssef](https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Youssef_Al_Haj&action=edit&redlink=1) (b. 1999) and [Ali](/source/Ali_Al_Haj) (b. 2001), who both play football.[5][10]
