**Jam Nizamuddin Shah I** ([Sindhi](/source/Sindhi_language): سلطان ڄام نظام الدين شاهه اول) was the seventh Sultan of Sindh. He belonged to the [Samma dynasty](/source/Samma_dynasty), which ruled from 1351 to 1520.

## Reign

Following the death of Jam Salahuddin I, Jam Nizamuddin was elected as ruler by the nobles and tribal chiefs of [Sindh](/source/Sindh). He was a kind and benevolent ruler.[5] Early in his reign, he ordered the release of his father's cousins and the sons of Jam Togachi, Jam Sikandar I, [Jam Karan](/source/Jam_Karan), Jam Bahauddin, and Jam Aamir, who were previously imprisoned on the advice of ministers during Jam Salahuddin I's rule.[3][6] These individuals were subsequently assigned administrative responsibilities in outlying regions of the state.[5]

During Jam Nizamuddin's reign, Sindh experienced several incursions and raids by the forces of the [Delhi Sultanate](/source/Delhi_Sultanate).[7]

Internal opposition, particularly from his father's cousins, later compelled him to leave Sindh and travel toward [Gujarat](/source/Gujarat_Sultanate).[3] After his departure, the nobles and tribal leaders elected his uncle, [Jam Ali Sher](/source/Jam_Ali_Sher), as ruler, while Jam Karan was excluded from the succession.[5]

Jam Nizamuddin died after being captured by the forces of [Jam Karan](/source/Jam_Karan) while attempting to escape.[8][9][*[unreliable source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources)*]
