**Royal Prussian Jagdstaffel 89**, commonly abbreviated to **Jasta 89**, was a "hunting group" (i.e., fighter squadron) of the *[Luftstreitkräfte](/source/Luftstreitkr%C3%A4fte)*, the air arm of the [Imperial German Army](/source/Imperial_German_Army) during [World War I](/source/World_War_I).[1]

## History

Jasta 89 was founded on 28 or 29 October 1918. Its predecessor was *Kampfeinsitzerstaffel* ("Scout Detachment") 9. The new squadron never became operational.[1]
