# Jacob Wipf

**Jacob Wipf** (1834 – 1910)[1] was a member of the [Wisconsin State Assembly](/source/Wisconsin_State_Assembly).

## Biography

Wipf was born on December 15, 1834, in [Horgen, Switzerland](/source/Horgen). During the [American Civil War](/source/American_Civil_War), he served with the [44th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment](/source/44th_Wisconsin_Volunteer_Infantry_Regiment) of the [Union Army](/source/Union_Army), achieving the rank of sergeant.[2] Events he took part in include the [Battle of Nashville](/source/Battle_of_Nashville).

## Political career

Wipf was a member of the Assembly during the 1889 and 1893 sessions.[3] Additionally, he chaired the town board (similar to a city council) and was Town Treasurer of [Iola, Wisconsin](/source/Iola_(town),_Wisconsin). He was a [Republican](/source/Republican_Party_of_Wisconsin). He died on 14 October 1910 in Iola.[1]
